I’m a video editor, story producer, and photographer who has been working in digital media for more than 10+ years.
I have extensive experience with short-form content for web, YouTube, and social media, including explainers, news packages, and text-driven narration videos. I also have experience with long-form content, multi-screen arena shows, fitness videos, food videos, and music videos. I’ve worked for news agencies like AJ+/Al Jazeera Media Network, lifestyle companies like Popsugar, online education companies like Masterclass, human rights organizations like Outright International, and various creative agencies specializing in corporate video.
What I love about photography and video editing is the way it increases my ability to empathize with other people. As a video editor, when I spend countless hours culling through footage, listening to other people share their perspectives, it enlarges my understanding of humanity and the world. As a photographer, I love to take the time to connect with my subjects. I talk with them, hear their stories, and make them feel comfortable, so we can capture some authentic moments with facial expressions that don’t feel forced.
Because I’m a story producer as well as a video editor, this means I can work largely unsupervised and without a script. If you give me the key talking points for a video, I can go through hours of interviews, and deliver a concise and engaging piece that is on-brand, and around 3 minutes long. I enjoy making the subjects of my videos look and sound their best, and finding the visual elements to tell the story in the most compelling way possible. I’m able to do this quickly: I worked in news for 8 years. And there’s nothing like working on a news cycle to make you a fast and efficient editor.
The other thing I love about video editing and photography is the process of collaboration among my teammates. I love sharing creativity, and all of the surprises that come with that. I bring good vibes with me, and try to make my co-workers feel supported, uplifted, and less stressed out.
In my spare time, I like to dance and read. I also host the The Loving Belly blog and Instagram account where I write about my experiences with mental health and trauma, and turn them into beautiful photos and healthy recipes.
